Welcome to the
Albright 'Betsy Ross' House
Restoration Website

In the mid-1800s, William George Albright and Jacob William Albright, two brothers from Lancaster, PA, moved to Fort Madison, Iowa, bringing rich American history with them.

Jacob Albright married Rachel J. Wilson from Philadelphia, PA, whose grandmother was Betsy Ross, designer of the American flag.

William Albright married Cynthia White from Springfield, IL, whose great-grandfather, Peregrine White, was born on the Mayflower.

This website will help you learn about the Albrights, and allow you to take a virtual tour of the Albright 'Betsy Ross' House. Here, you can see its restoration progress, year by year.

The Albright 'Betsy Ross' House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is an Iowa Historic Site.

The house is currently being restored, and will soon be open to the public, by appointment.
